Making a Game = Hard | Launching a Game = Even Harder

Whilst I still sit here and twiddle my thumbs waiting for Apple to approve my game and let me launch, I thought I'd spend some time venting. Won't you join me?

You see, I 'made' On_Release() about 2 months ago. I mean, it wasn't finished as there were little bugs here and there and you couldn't change any options. There was no main menu or game over screen or leader boards - but the 'game' itself was done.

So, what have I been doing for the past two months? A good question and one I've been asking myself a lot lately. It turns out that making the game was the difficult bit and that the subsequent launching of the game would be the even harder bit.

Truth is, over the last few months there's always loads of 'stuff' to do. Screenshots for the App Store, a trailer for YouTube, sort out your website, your Twitter and your Facebook too. You need to get these agreement signed and set up those accounts. Capturing footage is simple, but now you need to edit it all together in time to the music.

These are all things that I wouldn't normally fuss with. I've 'made' games before and simply dumped them on a file hosting website ready for anyone unlucky enough to stumble on them. This time, I'm actually launching the game. I actually want people to play this thing and the whole experience has been quite different. I've learned a lot and I hope to do this all again very soon. Maybe I'll do it better. That'd be nice.

Anyway - this website was looking a bit bare so I thought I'd chuck my thoughts up on here to let you know that the game's coming - I just don't know when.
